The result? A poseable, charming, and surprisingly sturdy amigurumi that we’re proud to say is one of our best creations yet.
In this guide, we’ll walk through every step of the process so you can crochet your own Espeon, complete with flexible tail and detailed facial features.

Step 2: Crochet the Ears
- Start with 3 sc in a magic ring
- Round 1: sc around (3)
- Round 2: sc, inc, sc (4)
- Round 3: sc, inc x2 (6)
- Round 4: 1 sc, 1 inc repeat (9)
- Round 5: sc, inc, sc around (13)
- Round 6: 3 sc, inc, sc around (18)
- Round 7: 2 sc, inc around (24)
- Rounds 8–15: sc around Shape each ear by folding the fourth and sixth rows together, either left-to-right or right-to-left, depending on the side. Secure with glue or stitches. Flatten and pinch the base to shape before attaching.
Step 3: Make the Whiskers
- Chain 16
- Row 1: Skip first, sc in 5 stitches, dc in next 9, slip stitch to finish Fold the top of the last sc to the base of the second dc. Attach this smaller loop inside the ear.
Step 4: Assemble the Face
- Use paper templates to size purple felt triangles for the inner ears
- Cut two eye shapes from navy felt, with a small white shine accent
- Cut a red felt circle for the forehead gem with a tiny white dot for reflection
- Add a mouth from black felt in your desired shape Glue or sew all facial features into place. Test positioning before securing for best expression.
Step 5: Build the Tail
- Cut two wires: one 12 inches, one 3 inches Main Tail:

- Round 1: 2 inc in each stitch (10)
- Round 2: sc around; insert long wire and fold to secure
- Rounds 3–38: sc around
- Round 39: sc 5 stitches, finish off Secondary Tail:
- Repeat above with 3-inch wire but only to round 13 Line up both sections with the longer on bottom. Secure together with glue or stitching. Reinforce the joint. Then attach the whole tail to the back of the body.
Step 6: Shape the Legs
Front Legs:
- Magic ring with 6 sc
- Round 1: sc, inc around (9)
- Rounds 2–3: sc in each stitch
- Row 4: sc in 6 stitches, ch 1 and turn
- Rows 5–13: sc in each, ch 1 and turn Stuff lightly and attach to front body.
Right Back Leg:
- Magic ring with 9 sc
- Rounds 1–4: sc around
- Row 5: sc 4, ch 1 and turn
- Row 6: sc 2, inc 2 (6)
- Row 7: inc 2, sc 4 (8)
- Row 8: sc 6, inc 2 (10)
- Row 9: sc across
- Row 10: sc 6, dec twice (8)
- Row 11: dec twice, sc 4
- Row 12: dec, sc 1, dec, sc 1 Stuff and attach to right side.
Left Back Leg:
- Repeat above, mirroring shape Attach to left side. Glue or sew as needed for stability.
